Karma is basically an anonymous rating or "feedback" system (sort of like on Ebay, except you do not know who gave you the karma) where members can praise (exalt) or criticize (smite) other members' post/s. To exalt someone gives them one (+1) karma, to smite them subtracts a number (-1). You may only exalt or smite one person, once per hour. After an hour passes you will once again be able to use the karma feature.
I have enabled this feature as a test; if it is not abused, then I will leave it enabled. However, if I feel that the system is being abused I will disable it.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you receive negative karma, please do not take it personally and don't let it hurt your feelings. It is simply someone else's opinion of a view you have shared in a post and should not be taken as an insult against you personally.
