Account Options
1. Log in to your Photobucket account from photobucket.com
Click on 'Account Options'.
Please see the list below the image for detailed information on what is available in Account Options.
1. Username - This is the ID you chose when you registered your account.
2. Member Since - This is the date you joined. The day here is the day each month that your 'Monthly Bandwidth' (#9) and 'Monthly Hits' (#10) will reset to 0. Bandwidth and Hits will reset on the 26th of each month for this account.
3. Password - This is your main account password. This password
gives complete access to all account modification features (Add, Delete,
Edit, Account Options, etc.).
4. New Password - If you choose to change passwords (which is a
good idea from time to time) this is where you would type the new password in.
5. Email - This is the email address registered with the account.
Please keep this current, as this is the only way we have of contacting you.
It is also where your user information will be sent if you request it with
Forgot User Information.
6. Change Email - If for any reason you need to change your email
address, you can do that here. A new screen will open, which will prompt
you for your new Email address. A confirmation email will be sent to the
new email address to ensure that we can still communicate with you and
so that you will know that the update worked properly.
7. Album Size - This is the total overall size of your album, or the amount of space it takes up on our servers. This is the current size or space used - not what you have left available.
8. Total Pictures - This is the total number of pictures you have in your album. (Includes sub albums.)
9. Monthly Bandwidth - This is the amount of bandwidth you have
used within the last month (since your anniversary join day ... see point #2)
Bandwidth, in Photobucket terms, is a measure of the number of bytes
passed over time via direct linking.
It is calculated by adding up the size of each of your images as they are sent from Photobucket.
Example: You have various images of 25K each in size - they are viewed
by by 100 users on your favorite message board in one day. 25K x 100
requests = 2500K (or 2.5MB) of bandwidth used in one day.
10. Monthly Hits - This is the total number of times someone has viewed your images through direct linking. If you have four images direct linked from a website and one visitor views the page, that is four 'Hits'. Four visitors to a page with only one image direct linked is also four 'Hits'. Viewing your images directly through your album does not add to the 'Monthly Hits'.
11. Account type - This is whether you have a Free or Premium account.
You can see the differences between Free and Premium accounts
here.
12. Good through - This is the date that your Premium account will
revert back to a Free account if you do not extend your Premium upgrade.
If you have a Free account, you will not see this. You will see the words 'Direct Linking' (#26) instead.
13. Renew Membership- If you want to extend your 'Premium' status, you click here and follow the steps. If you have a Free account, you will not see this, you will see the words 'Upgrade to Premium' (#25) instead.
14. Location - This is the URL of your album. This URL can be given
out to others or posted on websites if your account is public. If you are
using a visitor 'read only' password, you will need to also provide that
whenever you use this URL.
15. Make Public - This is where you choose to make your album open
to the public, or keep it private. You can also choose to only share
with a few people by setting a 'read only' visitor password. This option
is currently for the entire album - including all sub albums.
16. Read Only Password - This is a password (different than your
main one) that you can set to give out to visitors to allow them access
to view images in your account. They will not have access to any of the
account modification features (Add, Delete, Edit, Account Options, etc.).
For example, you have a baby and want to share pictures with Grandma
and Grandpa, but don't want your album to be public for Joe Blow down
the street to view. You would set this 'visitor' password, then email
Grandma and Grandpa your album URL (#14) along with this password.
Then only they can view the pictures.
17. Background Color - You can choose the color of your background
for your album from our drop down list. This will only be visible by
direct access to your album.
18. Thumbs per page - Here you set how many thumbnails you want to see on any one page of your album.
19. Sort by - You can chose between sorting by oldest first, newest
first, or alphabetical. If you want them in a certain order, the easiest
way is to name them in alphabetical order before you upload them. Then,
they should appear in the order you wish, as long as you have alphabetical
chosen in your options.
20. Display URL - This is a toggle you can set on or off to display this code under each image.
21. Display Tag - This is a toggle you can set on or off to display this code under each image.
22. Display IMG - This is a toggle you can set on or off to display this code under each image.
23. Update - If you have changed anything in your Account Options, you need to click this button in order for the changes to take place.
24. Delete my Account- To delete your account, you must check the little box to the left of 'I would like to permanently delete my account'. Then, click the 'Delete Account' button. Please see the image below for an example. Make sure you really want to do this before doing so, as once your account is gone, it is gone.
Clicking the 'Delete Account' button without checking the little box will not delete your account.
Once the account delete request has successfully been made, the following message in red will display at the top of your album page.
25. Upgrade to Premium - If you have a Free account, you will have
this button. You can click here to choose to upgrade to Premium if you
wish. If you do so, and use Paypal, it should be an instant upgrade. To upgrade now, click
here.
26. Direct Linking - If you have a Free account, you will have
this option. If you only ever send people to your album to see images,
you can turn this off, and thus save your bandwidth. Nobody will be
able to 'hotlink' to any of your images.
